In my efforts to keep John's blog updated, I have sorely neglected my own blog.
Just FYI: there are two yarn stores within a 30 second walk of our apartment and I spotted another one at the Brilliance mall a few weekends ago.
While I've been her, knitting has helped pass some of the time while John is at work. Of course, I have done a lot of exploring, working out, shopping, and reading as well, but I did accomplish some great knitting. . . here are the fruits of my labor here:
First picture: moss stitch afghan using Lion Wool Thick and Quick. Knit up very quickly and easily with easy knit/purl combinations.
Shanghai is a funny place to do a lot of knitting since it is so hot in the summer. This week it has been above 37 degrees Celsius all week. Whew! That is just hot! And it's a humid as it can be without raining. Sweltering!
So here's the next two projects: This is a Lion Wool Thick and Quick hat. John doesn't like the color, and I'm not so sure about it, either, but it's a nice hat pattern that I really like. (It's the third hat I've made with this pattern--intended for Landscapes yarn but I prefer the Thick and Quick). This one knits up in about three hours or so. Maybe less.
My final project here is a super long Lion Suede scarf. I started this on the plane over here and it was my last project
to finish. It's knit in a seed stitch, and I just tend to find that a little tedious. I think the result was great--this was also my first fringe on a project and I can officially say I am not longer afraid of fringe!!!!
Not that any of these projects are useful in Shanghai. (Except the afghan but only because we keep the a/c turned down as low as it can go). Perhaps if we ever live somewhere cold all of my knitting will come in handy.
Oops! Almost forgot the scarf pic. Didn't turn out very well but the actual scarf is lovely. I have enough yarn left over to make another one as a gift.
More knitting news to come. I have some blankets in the works back home that I'm looking forward to knitting up!
