If Dylan were a meteorologist, his forecast would have been spot-on for the recent Houston weather. If you do not live in Houston or you live in Houston but under a dry rock somewhere, here's the skinny: it's been RAINING for DAYS!!!Our neighborhood succumed to the rising waters this afternoon. These pictures were taking after it had stopped raining and the water had subsided substantially. The fist pic is of a RAV4 coming down Huntingdon/Huntington by the pool. Good news for current and potential RAV4 owners--this guy made it. Not everyone was so lucky, like the lady who followed him in her Sienna minivan. We gave her a push to higher ground but her car would not start. The next picture is again by the pool but on Northfork--the truck gives an idea of how high the water was.
Below, our neighbor demonstrates how high the water had risen. His car is parked up on the sidewalk by the pool. Next, I braved the cold water and possible floating ant beds (didn't see any or get bitten) for a token shot. This is the parking lot for the pool and some of the lowest water in the area. In retrospect, jeans were not the best item to wear for this outing.

You can see how many cars had to be stranded at the pool area due to high water.
Looking down our street to the intersection of Linden and Huntington. This evening was a pretty festive atmosphere with whole families in slickers and galoshes. I saw some cute lady bug galoshes on our three-year-old neighbor. Wonder if they come in my size??
I'm sure all will be dry by tomorrow morning, but the high schoolers were still abuzz with the idea of school being closed until one brought up the infallibility of the almighty school bus: "They can go ANYWHERE" one reminded another.
