We moved in Friday, 24 November and promptly set off the alarm.
Umm. . .since we did not know the code to disarm it, we kind of stood around in exhausted despair for a moment and then knocked on a neighbor's door to use their phone to call the realtor--who in turn needed to call the homeowner and call us back. Argh!!! We had no mobile because we had no documentation (statement for electric, gas, etc.) to be able to set one up. How can you have utilities until you have a house??? Anyway. . .we have maneuvered the "system" sufficiently and are now settling in.
Oh, and we got the alarm turned off as well. The neighbors whose door we knocked on are really nice--they have a 2-year-old and a six-week-old.

So we live in a duplex-type house. You could call it "semi-detached" if you want. We only share one wall (very thick and almost soundproof) with neighbors. They are two brothers who have a beautiful Japanese Akita puppy named Mischa. We pet her through the fence at least once daily.

And here is the view from one of the guest rooms (we have a four-bedroom house). So this is your view if you come to stay with us--pretty impressive, if you ask me!!!
We live in Glanmire, east of Cork City. It's a little bit of country, but close to the city, so it's just about perfect. The drive into our area is absolutely breathtaking!!! We'll have to do some manaeuvering to get pictures of that!
We live on a dead-end at the top of a hill (great exercise) so things are very quiet.
The weather has been off and on this last week. We had "gale force winds". No, I am not joking or exaggerating about this!!!But temperatures top out at 50 degrees F daily, so it's not too cold. Just a wet cold. I'll get used to it!
Well, I have to run to pick John up. We're headed over to the airport to trade out our rental Nissan Almira for a long-term rental (not sure what it will be) before we get our lease car from the company. Sound complicated? Sorry!
More photos and adventures soon, including the Ballad of the Red Button. . ..
