John and I always like to spend New Year's Eve taking time to look back at the previous year. It helps us to gives thanks for all God has given us. It keeps us humble. It helps us set goals and strive toward an even better new year.
But we have to admit, 2006 was one hell of a year!!!
We started the year off with a bang, ringing in 2006 with some of our favorite people at Kat and Rick's. And while January was pretty calm, we were gearing up for a rollercoaster year. . .
We ran two half marathons, but had planned to do at least four. . . John's travel and a funky knee did not permit the second half of our "season."
In February, John planned and executed an phenomenal conference from the ground up. I traveled to conferences I don't remember in places I've almost forgotten. Okay, well, I'll never forget the fondue incident in Colorado Springs. . .
Starting in the Spring, we sampled McDonald's in England, The Netherlands, Poland, China, Ireland, and, of course, The United States.
We earned somewhere near 100,000 frequent flyer miles.
I changed jobs, then quit altogether. I also learned as much Polish as I could in six weeks, only to retain random and useless phrases. Uwaga!!! Dokwadnie!
We witnessed our closest friends getting married and having babies.
We consumed at least 23 pounds of chips and salsa from Don Picos.
We left our home, our friends, our dogs, and our families to embark on an adventure here in Ireland for a good while. (I miss everyone and everything!!!)
We threw "going away" and "homecoming" parties until people just got tired and stopped showing up.
And, we got pregnant!!!
We're not sure what 2007 will hold, although we know it will be life-changing. So far, it has been a beautiful year!
