Today I have some odds and ends just to give you glimpses into our lives out here.
- First, I tried a new recipe last night and it was a knock-your-socks-off easy pasta dish with some healthy stuff. I found the recipe here at FitPregnancy.com. Not that you have to be pregnant to try it--John's certainly not expecting and he liked it. It's whole-wheat penne with chicken, broccoli, sun-dried tomatoes and a light creamy sauce. Yum!
- This weekend we attended a Hypnobirthing workshop, and it was awesome! I finally got to meet the author of The Better Birth Book, Tracy Donegan, and she was great! I'll spare the details for those of you who would really be interested, but I have to say that I was more than pleased by the positive, fear-free approach to birth presented by this method. And, if you're worried that I have totally gone off the deep end and am hypnotizing John to bark like a dog and run around the neighborhood naked (wait, does he even need hypnosis to do that?) that's not what this is about. It's incredibly similar to the meditation I've been doing in yoga. But even better. E-mail me if you want more info. Stiggs, expect a long message soon.
- We ate out at an honest-to-goodness restaurant for the first time since we moved into the house in November, and it was INCREDIBLE!!! The place is right by our house and the food was lovely! John had a steak and I had salmon wrapped in prosciutto (yep, that's just like bacon but with a fancy name). We were sick of eating out after our first two weeks here, so we've stuck to Chinese take-out (yes, it's better here than in China for the most part) and fast food (don't judge me).
- Today is my cleaning day and in addition to cleaning toilets and the like, I am working on our computer to try to clean it up. It has been doing some. . . odd. . . things, to say the least. Fortunately, if it turns out to be demonic possession, we are in a country full of Catholic priests. I'm only half-joking here.
- Finally, we are getting our "permanent" car today!!! Yippee!!! I think we are getting a Volkswagon Touran. No, not the Toureg, a Touran. Here, you check it out. If you do your proper snooping to find the price (the company pays for our vehicle, anyway) you will get a glimpse of how expensive cars are here. The Honda CRV is, like, a $60,000 car, by the way. . .
- Oh, and did I say "finally"? It's Fun Monday, and I'm not really invited to participate, but I'm taking the lead from MamaDrama to put together a post to celebrate an object that has a special meaning to me. I'm trying not to come up with something snarky.
There, I hope that counts as a shorter blog. I'm trying!

Of course you're invited to be part of Fun Mondays! And if you want to get on the list for next weeks (it's about "You're Blogging Environment) just go to Willowtree's blog and ask him to link to you. :)
PS. I did hypnobirthing (with a side of epidural) and it was great. It helped so much.
