Finite Friday

After the last epic posts, I need a short one. Today is about your favorite "Summer" song. What is it? Let's get a list going!

I heard an "oldie" (1999) but goodie last night: "Steal My Sunshine" by Led. (Utube video here) It made me want to strap on some rollerskates and boogie down a boardwalk somewhere. With a Walkman and wearing hot pants and some big Gucci sunglasses. (Of course, in this fantasy, I would once again be skinny)

I showed you mine; show me yours.

Finally, a shout-out to all of the AWESOME people who are riding the BP MS150 Houston-to-Austin bicycle ride this weekend to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis. My peeps in the ride: Peggy, Sandra, Sonya, Tobias, Michele. And the Hoff always rides, too. For those unfamiliar with the ride, it is NOT 150 miles over two days. It's more like 180+, with a "century" (100miles) on the first day. (Although now there are lots of options so I guess you can make it to Austin in 150 miles, technically) I did this in 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004 (on a tandem with DH), and it's a great ride for a great cause.

As far as songs are concerned, I agree with "Not a Tree Hugger". That song is always on my iPod during the summer!

I almost called you last night - if it's 8:30 here, what time is it there??? I'll fill you in more later.

Miss you. Hope all is well with you, DHJ and KidZilla!

My favorite is definitely "Summer in the City" which some of you may recognize a the 1966 hit single by the Lovin' Spoonful. It came from their album, Hums of the Lovin' Spoonful. It reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on August 13, 1966, replacing The Troggs' hit "Wild Thing". It remained at the top spot for three weeks.

But that's just my opinion.

Dear sabrina. I love 'Jacqueline' by Franz Ferdinand. The chorus goes "It's always better on holiday... so much better on holiday... we only work when.... we NEED the money!" First heard it on holiday in Thailand in 2004, and still can listen to it over and over and over and over and over and over again. Even though I don't work anymore...

crud!!!!!! I'm drawing a complete BLANK! You know what FREAKY song came to mind??? "Rhythm of the Night", El DeBarge, circa 1984???? LOLOL, where did THAT come from?

When I think of summer songs, though, I love Carolina beach music...Spiral Staircase, The Embers, The Tams, The Catalinas...have you even heard of those??

Oh, my, Sabrina!!! I just went to Amazon, loaded "I Love Beach Music, Vol 1 & 2" and I am LOVING IT!!! So glad you prompted me to do so. Gonna go strap on my bikini and catch me some rays..........:O!

Hmmm...George Strait's "Fireman" for one...and The Cure's "Friday, I'm in Love". I know those are pretty much musical opposites...but hey, I'm kinda strange that way. (Great list idea!)

Well!! I totally agree with dear husband!!

But I also can't help but think of my ex's (who died) favorite "summer" song:

*singing*
In the sum-mer tiiime
When the wea-ther is hot
You can go out-siiide
You can do what you want
In the sum-mer time
You've got wo-men you've got wo-men on your mind!!
