All Good in the 'Hood

Just got back from the pediatrician with KidZilla. . .

Weighing in at 13 lbs 13 oz at a whopping 25 inches, this kid is growing like a weed. Who knows what is making this kid so huge. I think it was all the good Irish beef we ate while in Cork. Whatever it is, we are just thankful for a healthy, happy, robust little man!!!
Z-Man got all of his 2-month shots today (he's 7 1/2 weeks) and that was tough. But the nurse is great and fast and had him poked and bandaged up in seconds. He's sleeping it off now.

Lots happening on the home front. . .

Z was baptized into our church this Sunday. We really love our church and the pastor there. We were blessed to have our friends and family join us in committing to teach him about Jesus Christ. It was awesome. Z wore a beautiful gown my mom made and didn't really cry the whole time. When the pastor held him to dribble him, Z grabbed his microphone and ripped it off and was making sounds into it so the whole congregation got an earful. That was pretty funny. Everyone came back to our house to enjoy some Lenny's subs for a little lunch celebration. Yay!!!

Speaking of food and our church. . . we are SO lucky to have the Meals for Moms ministry at our church. . basically, moms in the church cook these GOURMET meals for us every other night for 12 meals. That's practically a whole month. And I'm not talking some dinky casserole--they do a main dish, sides, salad, bread, and dessert!!! (Yeah, this totally does not jive with my Weight Watchers, but oh well!!!) So we are so blessed that the fabulous ladies of our church are bringing meals this month--it has helped TREMENDOUSLY!! And I've met some awesome chicas--some even in our neighborhood--so that has been awesome! And I've had the best baby back ribs ever. EVAH!!!!

My DH is competing as part of a relay team for a triathlon in Sugarland in October--he's doing the cycling portion--so he has been dusting off all the cycling gear and spinning his legs off to get back into cycling shape. He used to race for his university, so he was a good choice for the team. He's planning to ride the MS150 (Houston to Austin) this spring, so YES, I will be hitting you up for donations. I think they've raised it to $400 at this point to ride. Jeez. . . I know it's for a good cause, but when I started it was only $200. Anyway. ..when I come a-knockin' in Jan-Feb-March, you'll know what I'm bugging you for!!!

I'm slowly shuffling by on the running front. Having a ton of knee pain that I was not expecting but is really quite reasonable. I mean, I haven't run for about 18 months and I had a baby in the meantine--what do I expect??? Will be a while before I am back to my old slow pace. (I can seriously walk almost as fast as I am running these days) But I am also walking and doing some weight training that is going to get me back in action soon.

On the Weight Watchers front. . .I have lost some more of the weight, but it is slow-going. I'm close to my 10% goal and that is good. I like earning the activity points so I have more points at the end of the day. The program is good so far with all the support, etc. but the best part has been I am thinking a whole lot more about my choices and realizing how devastating, I mean bad, eating out/eating fast food is. Used to not think twice about a burger and fries because I was "so active", etc. but now it's a whole different story. I don't really care what the numbers on the scale are right now--I just want all of my pants to fit. Once I get to that point--whatever the weight--I plan to go to "maintenance". I know with nursing, my body and weight will be different until we finish that. I'm just happy that my old clothes are starting to fit again!!!

The weather here has been surprisingly pleasant despite the heat. The humidity seems to be down, and Z and I have enjoyed some time outside in the evenings in the "moon pod" outdoor toy. Bonus--he loves being outside and is happy and we talk with our neighbors. Downsides--ants sneak into my pants and bite my bottom.

On the sad front. . .our friend and neighbor Jillian is under the weather this week. Boo!! I hope she gets to feeling better soon!!

So I know this is really local news, but that's okay, too. More to come!
