So I am not trying to get Zane on a schedule. Seriously, the unpredictability does not bother me. (No, I'm not trying to be sarcastic).
But I AM actually trying to pay more attention to what his natural cycles are these days. Mostly because the pediatrician thought I would know this information (how long between feedings during the day? how long is he awake? napping?) and I was like. . .um, he sort of does what works for him.
So I've been trying to keep track of what he does. Amazing that yesterday and today have been remarkably similar on paper, but if you had asked me if he has any kind of "regular schedule" I would have been all "Oh, heck no!!".
Anyway. . .I am still not trying to put him on a schedule or anything. . . I just am trying to look at the clock a little more to see what's going on when.
Here are my random tidbits for the day:
* BARTS! A big shout-out to you, chica! Hope your first day back at la escuela goes well. Hope they weed out all the mutantes from your classes! I hear you'll be in the same hallway as my MIL--try not to get into tooooo much trouble together!! PS: you should totally have become the DH just to show up at the first district-wide DH meeting and see how shocked our former DH would be that you (the rabble-rouser) had become a DH. (Non-education people: DH does not mean Dear Husband in this scenario)
* All teachers! Yippee! It's back to school!!! I am thinking of you and the fact that it has been over a year since I received a paycheck. But I'll take staying home and not having cable over working right now!!! Hang in there for that brutal first week back with the kids!!! I know many parents don't get why it works better for a partial week instead of M-Friday, but know that that was the calendar I always voted for! Yeah for starting on a Thursday. Booh for Monday starts. I do not envy you that first and neverending advisory period on the first day. . .
* No diaper can contain my son. Seriously. He's got some intense pressure going on with his plumbing. Pee and poo seem to be repelled by the diapers up his back/side/etc and seep up the onesie/into the sheet/etc. I was on the phone with my MIL last night and he made a serious present for me to clean up. . .At least it did not get on me for a change. . .
That's all the time I've got for the random today.
I was pleased that our friend Jillian totally called me out on the percentiles. She totally knew I was fibbing!
PS: I got word that Ann Taylor Loft is introducing a maternity line. Yeah! More options! Not that I have any desire to get back into maternity clothes ANY TIME soon!!! But it's nice to have more reasonably-priced options.
(What am I talking about? I was a total maternity clothes cheapskate. If it cost more than $12 I was not buying it. Like I'll shell out any more for my second pregnancy when I have a container full of maternity clothes that are only slightly pilled and stretched out. . .)
The kid calls. . .

My sister's BIL did NOT schedule their child at all - and now at 3 years old they are trying to get him to go to bed before 11pm and get up before noon. (they are a little granola-ly though) (and they thought my sister was very mean to her child when she made her go to bed at 8pm at the age of 1).
So - sometimes a natural schedule isn't all its cracked up to be - BUT - Zane is only a baby so no worries yet!!!
Karmyn: ooh, we may not have a "schedule" but we are certainly more structured than that already!! yikes!!! good incentive to start to put some substance to his natural rhythm!
I'm so out of child rearing that my thoughts are probably from the middle ages...
but....
I knew SO many mothers who were on a schedule ... not their kids.
I believe it comes naturally if you ease into things gradually.
TMI on the turd extrusions.
Pamela: I'm all for "natural". . .just succombing to some of the peer pressure to have the kid "scheduled"
WT: At this age, there aren't turds, really, it's more like a seedy, yellow. . .aw, shucks, that's more than you wanted to know, huh?
Ha! on your further explanation to Willowtree. If you post a picture, though, I'll have to smack you ;).
Hey, you got a lot in in a little time...you go, girl!
