You ever seen that fantastic movie "Goonies"?

Remember the Asian kid who had all the great inventions. I remember "slick shoes", for one.

Anyway. . . Zane has his own "invention" these days: POINTER OF POWER!!!!!

For the last couple of weeks, he's been pointing like crazy at whatever he wants. Very useful since he doesn't have any words yet and he has a lazy, slothful mommy who has not used Baby Sign Language with him. He's totally deprived, I know. . .

The great thing about Pointer of Power, aside from being pretty much his only way to communicate except screaming and stomping his feet, is that it has also shown us that he understands more words than we thought.

Like the other day I said something about bubbles, and he pointed out the window to the bubble machine. Cool! Now we're talking!

Except now we know how much stuff he wants that he really cannot have.

No, son, you cannot have Daddy's beer.

I think the pointing is the greatest thing ever. Imagine how tickled I'll be when he starts talking!

PS: This picture makes me look like I have Uma Thurman hands. Really, I do not. It's a trick of light.

PPS: I do not know what he was pointing at in this picture. Sometimes the pointing needs a little refining to fully get the message across.
