Fantastic One-Hour Knits

So for those of you wondering what on earth I have been doing since I am slightly out of commission after having two wisdom teeth removed. . .here you go!
I ordered three skeins of Jiffy Thick and Quick in Adirondacks to make a matching hat, scarf, and mittens set that goes very well with my coat for Poland. Each item takes about one hour to make and it knit up really well. You can't tell in the picture, but the Jiffy colors are really amazing. It looks really great in a stockinette stitch.
The hat is a little big and silly, but that's okay. Since my gauge is a little large, I was a little short on yarn for the hat tassel--the hat and scarf each use one skein, and it was TIGHT! getting tassels as well. The mittems used less than one skein, so if you are inclined to make this set, don't stress if you are a little short on the hat/scarf--you will have enough when the mittens are done.
So each item was VERY EASY! I like the scarf because it is sort of a block pattern and it gets kind of funky and twisty. Every item is on two straight needles, so no knitting in the round or anything--very easy!!! Even the mittens are not bad--all you need is a stitch holder. The patterns are all from www.lionbrand.com. If you are wanting to venture beyong squares and rectangles, this is a good step.

Now for my next trick, I'm going to attempt a shrug using the new "Romance" yarn from Lion Brand. Their logo is "one skein, one garment" so I'll put that to the test.
Seems like it's going to be a stormy day out there--a good day to knit!!!
And to blog. .. I'll have to give the full report on having wisdom teeth extracted at my advanced age. . .
