So on Monday my mom took me in to have my lower two wisdom teeth removed--something I have dreaded and avoided for some time. I thought it would be terrible. Horrible. Unbearable. I thought I would have to be restrained and sedated just to get into the office. But it wasn't that bad at all.
The IV went smoothly and even though I kept telling the nurse that I was not going under--nothing was changing--before I knew I was out I was awake and the procedure was finished. I could only feel pressure on my upper jaw so I kept asking--"Did you take out the bottom ones?"
My mom says I kept repeating this all the way home. . . But, yes, they did take out the right teeth. (I only had the two lower ones--would have been really awful if they had taken any upper molars instead!!!)
As far as pain goes. .. it was not bad. The only awful pain was once the first pain pill wore off and the numbness was starting to wear off as well. Today is day three and I am having more pain and swelling but as long as I don't try to talk too much, I'm okay.
I have watched several DVDs and consumed more pudding than I want to think about. You know what I've realized? I don't really like sweet things. Oh well!!! I have a 1/2 gallon of frozen yogurt in my freezer that's fair game if anyone wants it. . .I'm ready for some real food again.
But that's about all. The oral surgeon called this morning to check in on me and he said that the increased swelling was normal at this point. Hopefully I will be more back to normal tomorrow.
So I survived the surgery and have lived to tell about it. . it's not bad. Don't be afraid if you have to have it done. They have good drugs for these sorts of things!!!!
Well, that's about all to report about the wisdom teeth. Hopefully things will pick up around here and there will be more exciting things to report. John returns a week from tomorrow, so that's exciting in itself!!! Ta ta for now!
