This is a baby bootie that I knit this evening. It is still singular--bootie, not booties--and I don't know if I have enough yarn (background) to make the matching one.

Here is Blanco wearing said bootie. Please, no comments about his already unstable masculinity.
I promise that if you ever get a pair of baby booties knitted by me, I will never have put them on my dogs. But you have to admit that this is at least kind of cute, right?

So I know it's rather hot to be knitting booties. I mean, it was super hot today, right??? I walked the pups with our neighbors and their dog at 8:30 PM and we were all sweating. But the dogs were not pulling thanks to the wonder harness!! Perhaps the best invention of the 21st century! The sporn training harness!!

Well, even if I can't make the matching bootie, I know that I can at least make one. I used the "2-needle Baby Bootie" knitting pattern from the Lion Brand website (www.lionbrand.com). You have to log on now to view the free patterns, but it's worth it! The pattern calls for size 5 needles (straight) and Watercolors yarn, but I knit up this puppy on size 6 with Homespun. Other than "knit" and "purl" you only have to "Make 1" and "Knit 2 Together" so there is nothing complicated. You knit it flat and then sew a seam along the bottom of the foot and up the back. I tied on the sad little bow to cover up a stich I dropped along the way and didn't notice until it was finished. It took about an hour, start to finish, with a few interruptions.

I'll probably finish a set of four for Blanco to protect his delicate feet in the cold Polish winter. He likes to accessorize, as many of you know, so this might be a new thing for him.

More adventures to come! I miss all of my knitster family at CBHS and I wish I could see what all you are working on!!!! Holla, Master Knittas! Maybe we can go "tagging" soon. I have at least one bootie--might look good on an antenna!

I get my wisdom teeth out Monday, so I'll try to get in a few more posts before I am out of comission for a while.
Czesc! (with some accent-y like marks that means "hi" or "bye" in Polish)
