. . . is that John can order "huevos con chorizo" and a Dr. Pepper for breakfast at a cafe in Shanghai.
Unbelievable!!! Apparently, they just got a shipment of DP--I wonder if it tasted a little stale. John has been doing without the Pepper for so long that I bet he couldn't tell a difference. Sure reminds you of what a small world it is!
So I've been knitting on the shrug that I started last week and listening to KGSR online (www.kgsr.org) reliving the music from those ole college days! If you've never checked out this station from Austin (107.1) it's worth checking out!!! Very hip and hippie all at the same time!
So I just talked to John and he woke up on his last morning in Shanghai. Yay!!!! He will fly out to Paris and then over to Katowice, Poland tonight (about noon on Sunday Houston time). He arrives in Poland Monday morning around 5:30AM our time here. Then a few days in the office and back home Thursday!!!! It will be a day of celebration, that's for sure!!!
So this weekend has been great! I spent a fantastic day with my mom. It was a LOT of fun!!!!! We walked the dogs, ran errands, had some good Don Picos for lunch. YUMM!!!!
I just bound off the last stitches on the "Spring Fresh Shrug" from Lion Brand and it's well. . . a little big!!! I have to pick up and knit a ruffle, and I guess that will pull it all together. If not. .. I'll have a very large shrug!!! The pattern says it makes a woman's medium, and the model in the photo looks small so I wasn't sure what to expect. I might have a chance to finish it up tomorrow, so I'll post a picture and get the verdict.
Personally, I'm just THRILLED that the sleeves wound up the same length. You imagine all these horrors of uneven-ness as you knit, and it was nice that it actually worked out.
If you are interested in knitting an actual garment, this pattern was very easy. It knits up in one piece (any diagram indicating how you sew together the little parts you knit scares me off) and then you pick up stitches around the body and knitt a little ruffle. Nothing too terrifying--of course, I'm saying this before I have the finished product.
Well, I will probably sign off soon. It was an exciting day, and I have church in the morning, so I want to be refreshed for that!
