More baby stuff. . .

So today I had an appointment with my GP (general practitioner). These appointments are pretty boring--she takes blood, urine, blood pressure, and weighs me. Wanna feel slender? Weigh yourself in kilograms!
Since my last appointment was pretty lame, I didn't figure we would do anything exciting today. I mean, she didn't even touch me other than to draw blood and take my bp (very low and good, by the way).
But today was really exciting because she listened to the baby's heartbeat!!! She put some goopy stuff on my tummy to get a better sound in the, um, not a stethoscope--it looked like a microphone attached to a small radio. And just as she was saying. . well, it might take a little while to find the heartbeat. BOOM! There it was! Little Koogster was trucking away!!! It was sooo exciting to hear the heartbeat--we saw it at 7 weeks but this was a whole lot more exciting!!! Not that it means anything (old wives' tales aside) the HB was between 144-158 BPM for the little while we listened. My doctor thinks I have the most boring, normal pregnancy ever, which is a good thing!!! Tomorrow's ultrasound will be my only one if everything is normal (praying that it's all normal!!!) so. . .hopefully the baby will cooperate and get into a good angle so we can tell the gender. If not. . .I guess there's the option that I could do an ultrasound when I'm back in Houston, but I don't know that I want to make such a hassle out of it. Finding out when the baby is born could be really cool! We'll see how John and I feel after tomorrow and as things progress!
I have to give "mad claps" to Diana (can you believe Dr. Wilson really said that in that faculty meeting!!???) for checking out my boring BabiesOnline website (link is to the right). Thanks for signing my guest book!!! I'll try to update more often as things move along!
I have added a pregnancy ticker to the sidebar, but it really looks funny. At least this way you'll know how far along the baby is. I had to use the whole html code stuff to put it in, so it's just a miracle it shows up! Now we'll see if it updates daily like it's supposed to!
Today is kind of a simple day other than the baby stuff. John and I went out to the airport to trade in our second rental car for (hopefully) our last one before our long-term lease car or whatever. We have another Toyota Avensis, but this one is much better because it seems to have power steering, unlike our previous version. Funny how the simple things make all the difference!
I have spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to scale down the baby registries at Target and Babies R Us, but for each item I decide we really don't need or we should get here in Ireland, the websites suggest three really clever and cute items that we "can't live without". Mostly, I just want the baby to be safe and warm!!!
I'm so excited about the ultrasound tomorrow that I am about to jump out of my skin. I do not know what to do for the next 20 hours. . . thank goodness I can sleep for maybe 8!! And we're going to the gym, so that will take another one. . .So just 13 more hours to fill before I get to see the next picture of the baby!!! If you could hear me know I would be screaming like Bobby Hill from excitement. EEEEEEE.
Okay, that's enough. I'm going to make some soup for dinner tonight. It's always better when it has time to marinate, saturate. . .whatever it does!!!
Sorry no pics today, but hopefully I'll get a picture of the Nuggster tomorrow and I'll scan and post it!!!! (More screaming like Bobby Hill here. .. )
