I figured that by noon today it was time to put down my bon bons and get to posting, so here goes. . .
My favorite coffee mug:
If you can't quite read the text, it says: "You may all go to hell, and I will go to Texas." Thank you, Davy Crockett (who is not a native Texan at all, but born in Tennessee and I guess he got here when things started heating up. . .). I've never actually put anything in this mug. I've washed the dust off it several times. My DH used it at work while we were living in Ireland. Mostly, it's just an obnoxious statement about loving TX. Seriously, I love Texas, but this heat is pretty intense right now!Next up: favorite non-alcoholic:
This is my super funky Whole Earth Nalgene bottle. It's almost ten years old at this point. I brought it to work every single day when I was teaching and drank it twice--that's all the water I needed for the day. Once I thought it was stolen and made the class I felt was responsible submit secret ballots as to who they thought stole it just to spite me.
Turns out I left it in the copy room and it turned up two weeks later.
Yes, I apologized to the class.
Next: favorite alcoholic container:
Just kidding. Although at this point, I wouldn't mind swimming in a pool of sangria and drinking my fill. This IS my sangria pitcher for when I'm not being fancy (J gave me a nice sangria set last year and that's for fancy drinkin'). This thing hold about three liters of sangria. Niiiiiiiiice.
The tulips in the background are from J as well, who brought them over for me to celebrate mothers' (to be) day. SOOOO SWEEEEETT!
Finally, my favorite plate. .. I wish I had a "special birthday plate" like my MIL does for all her kids to eat on when they are celebrating their birthdays. It's red and really cool and special.
This plate matches a set some of our awesome friends who also heart Costa Rica gave us for our wedding. It's a bread plate, I guess, but it really means "party time"!!!! Bust out the sausage balls and roll-ups and queso and crudite and whatever other appetizers you want! This plate is key to all parties. Just looking at it makes you want to have a fruity drink and listen to some Jimmy Buffett. Or Texas Country. Take your pick.

So I'm heading back to my bon bons now. Er, I mean, I'm going to stop using the excuse that part of BJ&C's house was in the back room and now I need to get some work done to finish moving in. No move boxes to unpack, just sorting and organizing (bleh!).
So if I haven't checked out your cups and plates, please do not be insulted. I really just need to start making my house closer to fully functional after the big move.

Love the plate and the big sangria jug...guess the party's at yours?
I didn't know you get sangria sets and I have a couple of bottles waiting for a party. Like Beccy, I do love that plate.
I could really use a big tall glass of sangria right now!
I loved the first mug...cute.
LOL at the alcoholic container. Great pictures!
Ha! I love the sangria jug. And the plate is great too.
I want that plate. Will you leave it to me in your will?
HOWDY!!
How'd I miss you coming back to Howdyland?
Oh, and once your wee one is here, we'll toast with sangria!!
When I was a young girl - some relative came from Texas with a shirt for me that read:
If you lead a good life
Say your prayers and go to church
When you die, you will go to
TEXAS.
I'd rather have some of that Sangria.
Our pastor bought that same cup for my husband. I love your plate. Are we having a party? I will bring quesadillas for the plate.
I really like the mug...the colour, the shape and even the sentiment.
The plate is pretty cool too, looks like some sort of Hawaiian plate, and judging by the shape it would be perfect for that special Spam treat. (I'm not kidding, those Hawaiians love their spam!)
Oooh, all you need do is serve up a jug of sangria and a plate of sausage balls and we'll be right over :)
As a native Texan, I love that mug! I don't know if I could drink from it, though. The lip curves the wrong way.
I'll take the Texas country over the Jimmy Buffet, please:o)
My MIL lives in Texas and on the occasional sweltering July visit this Hoosier might have told you that hell and Texas were pretty darn similar. I love her and love to visit, but the heat is something else! Love that mug!
That birthday plate idea sounds nice. I would like to give that a shot I think.
That would probably be enough Sangria for me! Hopefully you have another jug in case friends come over.
Dear sabrina. Ahhh you make me want to go to Texas and eat lots of yummy food and drink Sangria and enjoy the heat! Although, I shouldn't complain, it was 29 degrees in Kyiv yesterday (how can it be 29 degrees when three months ago it was minus 18? Don't get it at all).
Ya know, I don't think I've ever had sangria...I'll take Buffett but mainly b/c I can't distinguish "Texas Country"...
That mug made me grin :).
I love party food!! All of it! You don't need utensils to eat it.
