I know it's a little bit early to be yearning to be back in all of my cute, sporty, pre-pregnancy clothes, but I am seriously jonesing to be back in my itty-bitty clothes.
Here are some reasons why:
This week in the mail, certain corporations have made it possible that I receive DOUBLE copies of my favorite clothes mags: Title 9 Sports and Athleta. I'm just a glutton for punishment looking through all the glossy pictures at all the toned, tanned, stretchmark-free women who are biologists and professional surfers and find time to save small countries in their spare time. Drooling over all the perfectly cute and functional rock climbing/yoga pants that cost more than my weekly grocery bill. The perfect running shorts (yes, I have two pair already!) in yet another color! Oh, joy!!! Skorts and "tomboy" dresses and racerback phantasmagoria. They even make fleece look "necessary" against a Texas summer backdrop. Do I seriously need "Life is Good" socks???
All of my absolutely favorite brand of clothing, Horny Toad, with their perfectly sporty but feminine pastels and quick-dry fabrics and gross grain ribbon ties at the waist. . . I have a closet full of plastic buckets containing all the goods. . .it's just a matter of pounds until we are reunited. . .
Final reason: I am totally sick of my maternity clothes. No, I refuse to buy more. I am just tired of them. I love my baby belly--I have to admit that I am not too bad looking for a hugely pregnant woman--but I am ready for a change of pace clothes-wise. Oh, and just random tidbit of info: I have no idea why I am COMPLETELY comfortable wearing super-short shorts (4" inseam) NOW that I am larger with even more cellulite but I would almost NEVER have worn them 40 pounds ago in my pre-preg cute little toned body. Sigh. The body dysmorphia is something for a different post. Right now I need to get dressed in my hoochie shorts. . ..
So, anyway, on a slightly less personal and completely boring topic for those who are not me. . .There's a lot of buzz going on about a new site that Girl con Queso has been letting everyone know about called Sk*rt. (right now the link is not working, but I'll check back later). It's about cool stuff for chicks.
What it reminds my of is one of the coolest sporty things I've ever encountered: TRIKS. (It's "skirt" spelled backwards). Basically, it's a running skirt. Just like a nice running short with the liner, but a skirt. And, boy are these things CUTE!!! I guess I bought mine (I have a Marathon Girl in chocolate and pink--love when "brown" is "chocolate". So tasty!) at the Houston 1/2 Marathon expo two marathons ago, and WOW! do they have a lot more options now! I am telling you!!! These things seriously make you want to run long and hard just putting them on. My DH says I totally run differently when I'm wearing mine--puts some spring in your step. Why not get flirty when you're getting dirty?
Anyway, my running skirt almost fits in a weird, strangely pregnant way. Not that I'm doing any running right now. . . But I can't wait to get back into it. Running, that is.
And the skirt.
And the rest of my clothes.
And, PS. like I am totally not much of a runner. Seriously, most people can run two marathons in the time it took me to run one. I just sort of putter on down the road. With some conditioning, I can putter for a very long time, but it's still puttering.
I just didn't want the fact that all of my favorite clothes are "athlete" oriented make you think that I'm some sort of athlete. I just putter, and that makes me happiest! Nor am I super bendy in a crazy yoga way. I'm pretty stiff. But I enjoy it, so that's all that matters.
And another PS: I totally think I am going to write Title 9 and let them know that their models in the magazines (they give lengthy descriptions of what all they do) need to include some MAMAS. I'm not interested in the single, childless 22-year-old with the rock hard abs and loads of free time who can parasail and weave her own cloth. Give me some mamas with their post-baby bodies who are fit and athletic and introducing a healthy, sporty lifestyle to a new generation.
So that's all I've got today.
I totally missed my one year bloggiversary yesterday. Oh well. I'm coming up on my 200th post, though, so maybe I'll remember that!

You are too funny! I know what you mean about being tired of all my preggo clothes. Just a few more weeks and then (maybe, cross your fingers), we will be able to wear some of our old stuff. You know, the "fat" jeans and things like that.
Hee hee - I remember that feeling well -
Okay - just one word of advice - don't expect to fit into any of those cute clothes too soon...don't be hard on yourself if it takes a while to get back. It can take a good 9 months to a year for the body to be "normal" again. (okay, enough from me already) But, who knows - you may be one of those lucky women who can wear pre-preg clothes within weeks.
It's so long ago when i was pregnant but I do remember that maternity clothes were hideous (well I suppose clothes in general were back then) how marvellous it would have been to have all the lovely comfy leisure gear of today.
Happy one year bloggiversary for yesterday.
those pictures are all air brushed
something odd about getting towards the end of a pregnancy is how your idea's change about things.
And then you get so tired of carrying around another person - you're ready to go through anything to be free of it.
The you hold it in your arms and you never want to let go.
I love "Life is Good" shirts! Best t-shirts ever!!
And Ethan is 20 months and I still don't fit into the majority of my pre-pregnancy clothes. Sigh. However, I wasn't skinny to begin with so I think you will have much more luck than I have had! And I'm almost there! Just a few more pounds!
