Whoo-hoo, the "mystery tree" that has been in our yard since we moved in almost three years ago finally bloomed and fruited (is that even a word?) this year and WE HAVE LIMES!!
YIPPEE!!
Actually, this "tree" started out as a mostly-dead stick over in a flood-prone corner of our backyard that the previous owners had just kind of stuck there. My DH replanted it when it was even-closer-to-dead in this spot and it just sort of sat there for two years. Then it bloomed (my suspicion was that it was an orange tree; my DH thought lemon) and some little cutie fruities came about. We still weren't sure if they were just small lemons or actual limes until he cut one open this weekend and. . .
SHAZAMM!
LIMES!
"Quick, honey, run to the store and get some Coronas so we can enjoy these!"

YUM! In addition to spicing up your Mexican-styled cerveza, limes are also a fantastic addition to Dr. Pepper (or for those of us cutting calories, it sure makes a Diet Dr. Pepper almost as good as the real thing!!!).
So, this begs the question: GOT LIMES?
We sure do.
Come on over with your harvest basket--we'll share!!

Awesome! I have always wanted a lime tree. Guess I will have to wait until I actually have a yard. Coronas sound good even at 11am on a Wednesday. Glad all is well.
Cool! I never thought about putting a lime in a Dr. Pepper - I will have to give that one a try.
Limes with a sprinkle of salt...Heaven!!

Pamela: It sure did!!! Now I'm dancin' in my chair to that tune. . .
Heather: I think the secret must be to neglect the tree for a few years. . .then it starts producing like crazy!!
We have peaches that are as green as limes. Does that count? I'll bring the salt and tequila.
Swampy, that sounds fabulous!!! Actually, my DH wants to come to you in CO!!! He SO wants to move "out west".
Darn! Pamela stole what I was going to say! Well, enjoy the limes. I'll see you tomorrow.
