Happy Labor Day

In celebration of Labor Day, we are laboring over here at our house. Well, my DH and FIL are doing all the labor. . I'm just managing the munchkin.
After quite some time, we are finally getting around to tiling the kitchen/breakfast nook. No small task, as this represents a good portion of our home, and it is not a simple square area.
Here's the DH on Saturday. . . Now he's grouting and cleaning and it looks like we will have our kitchen back in action in a day or so. Pretty impressive work. I'll be sure to post pics of the finished project.
Of course, now that we have no "naked" spots on the floor of our home (where the concrete slab is peeking through for one reason or another) we are planning the next projects.
Ultimately we plan to have all the carpet out of the house and have laminate or tile in all the spaces.
We started this whole project in February, 2006, when we tore out the carpet in the living room so this has been an ongoing thing with multiple contractors (first us, then Barrett and Jessica, now the DH and my FIL). Of course, when we took up the carpet, we didn't know that my DH would be "deployed" for work to Europe for a month, then to China for three months, then in Ireland for "18-24" months (which turned into 6 mos.).
It's pretty exciting to have a "new" kitchen. They certainly have done a TON of work. . .
So hat's off to labor this weekend. Grill some up for us, too. We'll be collapsing some time soon. But our kitchen will look fantastic!!

That's looking good, you'll have to show us the completed picture when it's all finished.

This is looking good. I would love to have my kitchen floor tiled but it's not something embee would attempt. He put laminate down a few years ago but never finished it off properly and it's always looked a bit of a mess which is why it needs a face lift.

That would have been a real head-scratcher with those angles.

we wish we'd have gone with that now instead of the interlock psuedo wood.

Looks great. I think I might miss the concrete - now if the dog or Z makes a mess it will be on something nice instead of the bare floor. Oh well. I still love the tile!
