This baby book needs instructions.
How does it truly measure things?
Like walking. . .Zane's been cruising since February, taking steps since March, letting go kamikaze-style since April, and now he "walks" on his own halfway across the house.
But he still needs some sort of assistance to pull up.
In my mind, I decided he would be officially "walking" once he could stand up on his own.
Easy, right?
Weeelllll. . .he did that once. A week ago. Then he did it again. Once. Three days ago.
So is he walking?
Not really.
But if you were the one chasing him you might think so.
So what gives? When do you consider it walking?
When you need to put shoes on him all the time because he's going to wriggle down to at least cruise around?
I dunno. . .
And when do you consider they get their teeth? When you see the bumps? When they poke through? When they are in all the way?
Whatever. . .at least I'm trying to fill something out. Even if I just sorta punt it's better than nothing!
Oh, and the post about our vacation last week? Still in the works. I didn't like any of my pictures. Okay, well, maybe I like one or two of them. But seriously, just one or two.

Teeth - once they poke through.
Walking - once they take more than a couple of steps at a time. Kaylee was walking really well at 9 months, though she had to pull herself up on something to get up for the first couple of weeks. I still considered it walking. :p
I had the same types of questions about age in "months". So are they 1 month old when they hit 4 weeks or when they reach the day they were born on the following month?
I stopped counting every 4 weeks as a month once Ruby hit 6 months. Then she was a month older on the 29th of every month. It's enough to make your eyes cross!
It's such a conundrum. Oh well. I guess I count teeth when they poke through - like Doreen. I would say Z is already walking. He might need help getting up, but once he is he walks!
Just as Doreen said - Teeth once they start poking through.
And walking? I counted when my kids were able to take steps on their own without my help - regardless of whether or not they could stand up by themselves. (normally a couch or chair was their preferred method).
Dear sabrina. You got a walker! I agree with everyone else, it's the steps.
