Digital Packrat

I'm outta space.

Again.

Sigh.

No, not in my house. Got lotsa space there. In fact, I LIKE getting rid of stuff in my house.

I'm talking about my computer.

Here's the problem:

I like taking all of these pictures, right?

I just can't delete them.

Or I just can't delete enough of them.

Anyway. . .I keep running out of space on my computer. Had to buy an external harddrive.

And back up everything there and to DVD.

But I still can't delete them from my laptop. I'm hoarding them. And most of them are not all that good. But I just can't delete all these pics.

However. . .I'm gonna have to make some space.

I've been taking waaaay too much time today trying to get all the pics organized and I've made some changes that I've been afraid to make as far as organizing, etc. (Going to try the Photoshop Organizer for all of my downloading needs for a while and see what I think)

I also leared, MUCH to my chagrin, that my auto sync/backup program for my external harddrive has been deleting the pics I THOUGHT I had saved forever as I deleted them on my laptop. Sigh. Grr. Have to change some settings there, for sure.

At least they are on disc.

So how do you manage all of your electronic junk? I'm doing my best to part with my darling pictures, but it's just so nice and easy to have them right there on the laptop (or harddrive, I guess) and not have to fish around for the disc or whatnot.

Does this post even make any sense? I've spent more time in front of the computer today than in the past month and my eyes are crossed. . ..

Here's a pic to improve this post:

Dear sabrina. I save them all to my laptop harddrive, and occasionally move them all over to one of the three harddrives that Mr Moi keeps on hand for us. You're right, though, it breaks my heart to delete them from the computer - I've only managed 2002 and 2003 so far.

You know me. I save everything. I am deleting ones that are total crap, but if they even have a glimmer of hope, I usually keep it. Ugh, oh well.
