Kung Fu Panda Makes Babies Cry

So thanks to those of you who have stopped by lately and left some great comments. I didn't know it, but it was just the kick in the pants I needed to get motivated again. And I'll be more out and about now with the comments. Whew. Feels so good to feel good again.
Okay, so the cats outta the bag that I got some good swag for my b-day.
The new camera gear makes Zane do this: Can you see those toothies, by the way???
Anyway. . .I got a tripod from my parents that can support an elephant if needed. Thankuverymuch, Mom and Dad. Z goes nuts whenever it is in sight and tries to wrestle it down. In addition to steadying my camera, it also works well as a teether. Hmm.
The DH gave me a new zoom lens and a flash. Lens is great, except it has this image stabilization feature that makes all kinds of sounds like it's gonna transform into some crazy Decepticon bug and turn around and eat my face off. Or not. Just a thought.
The flash is fancier than I need but once I get the hang of it, I know it will consistently make pics look a lot better. Right now I just kinda punt when it come to where it aims. My poor DH is all like: "Watch where you put that thing!!!"
Bottom line: the flash makes my camera look about three feet tall and it is really entertaining to Z; thus, the face.
I took the following two pics to show how the different flash makes a differece.
Now Kung Fu Panda looks like this:

Not all harsh and shadowy like this:
Where did Kung Fu Panda come from?
Um, certainly not a McDonald's Happy Meal. Nope, he just sauntered up on the doorstep yesterday. Uh. Huh.
Disclaimer: Z does not eat fast food.
But his mommy sure likes it.
Anyway. . .getting to the title of this post. . . Kung Fu Panda makes some really rocking Jack Black sounds. The DH and I think this (very large) toy is really cool. Z on the other hand is quite terrified of it. Funny, because he really is not scared of anything. Except Kung Fu Panda. Perhaps he just can't appreciate Jack Black yet. Or a weird little plastic thing that makes karate chop noises.
Nothing against the movie. I'm sure it will be, uh, entertaining. But apparently pandas opening up a can of whup-a** is more than my son can handle, so we won't be seeing you in the concessions line.
Have some popcorn for me.

Dear sabrina. Wow, I love that flash. If I may ask, what kind of camera do you have? I have a nikon D80 and I'm not much into taking photos with flash, but was thinking I should buy one because I saw a guy at a party, and he knew just how to use it to create the best light.

Oh and (going back a couple of days), you know how you were saying you were feeling a bit 'blah' and didn't know what you wanted to get out of the blog, I'll tell you how I see 'Sabrina', and maybe it will help you understand why I like visiting :)

Besides flossing your teeth, I see you as a cool young mum, busy but with a healthily relaxed attitude to parenting (i.e. your son doesn't live in a sterile enviro, and you let him muck in dirt etc). And you have a bit of that earth mother thing going - reusable nappies (which I'd love to hear more about cause I still thought they were those terry towels), yoga classes, composting and recycling, and you're fit and healthy.

To me, you're in inspiration, and you seem so happy and comfortable in yourself and your life, and that's why I like to read your blog!

OK enough of the warm fuzzy stuff from me, I think!
