Mere minutes after posting yesterday, Z woke up from his morning nap and was blazing hot. The good mother I am, I took his temp and watched it climb. . .
101. ..102. . .103. . .point one. ..point two. ..point three. ..point four. ..103.4!!!
He was acting absolutely normal, nothing keeping him down, so we dosed him with Tylenol and put in a call to the doc. Other than being ready for another nap just an hour and half later, he was right as rain.
We got him into the doc and. . .rut, roh, George. . ."your kid has hoof and mouth disease". . .actually, it's just this but still no fun. And plenty of fever. And fussing. And, as of this morning, screaming. With screaming. And more screaming. Screaming like I've never heard before. In my ear. With a little monkey-boy wrapped around my neck.
Did I mention the screaming?
So Z is in the long stretch of a two and a half hour-PLUS nap now. . .I'm almost ready for him to wake up because we are out of Diet Dr. Pepper and the hubby is knee deep in mud from his backyard construction project so no drinky drinky until Zane goes wakey wakey.
Seriously, he can sleep as long as he needs. I've never seen him like this.
Poor fella.
And instead of my much anticipated fun-run this morning, I was chugging coffee to peel open my eyelids after a long night.
Whew!
This certainly seals the deal that there is no way in hell we're putting him in Mothers' Day Out in the fall. If four and half days of VBS can knock him down like this, just imagine all the illnesses he'll get in full-time "school".
Ugh. Not that it seems to bother him that much, but I just can't take the "sick baby stress".
I might as well make myself productive while he's asleep. . .

awwww...but the good news is that by the time they get to fifth grade they are pretty much immune to all that stuff because they already had it!!!
Poor Z! I hope he feels better soon. And I hope Pamela is right and they they build up their immunity. I don't know what I'll do when B gets really sick for the first time. Yuck!
Let me know if you need me to do anything! HUGS!
My son had this last year - but his temp never got over 99. He was just feeling bad. And yet, for it supposedly being SO contagious - my daughter never came down with it. (lucky me!)
Hope Z is feeling better quickly so you can get some nighttime sleep!!!
I love the title of your blog, that's awesome! It's a pain to floss all of them, I agree. Sounds like it's been fun times with the kid--mine haven't had foot and mouth disease (or did you say "Hoof" and mouth? What kind of kid do you have exactly???)--but Hazel was attacked with 105--exactly 105 fire ant bites last week with a cold, so I can relate to good times:). Hope to see you sometime soon! Afton
