And Zane and Bailey were a year old. . .
Aimee and Bailey came over today for us to celebrate the kiddos' birthdays. (Yes, Z has made a full recovery from his mad cow disease.) It's shocking that these two pals--born almost exactly 24 hours apart (and, no, that was not planned at all)--have gone from the little lumps-with-personality they were when they first met at a few weeks old to full-blown-sassy-pants toddlers today.
It all makes me a little choked up, honestly. . .
I truly love to see Z and B play together. Finally, someone their own age to babble with and teeter about with. Even though they don't see each other as often as I'd like they have totally gone through so many of the same phases at the same time. Right now they are in the "pointer of power" pointing phase. So cute to see them pointing at everything around the room. Oh, how I just love these little munchkins. . .
I'm so thrilled at how much they have grown up and how their no-longer-little-but-actually-very-big personalities have developed. But I'm also a little wistful for those sweet, tiny baby days. . .
I'll get around to posting loads of pictures of the cupcake carnage later today or this week. Here are a few of my favorites:
"Hey, Bailey, you have somethin' funny on yer head!. . ..hmm, wait. . .so do I. Let's rip 'em off together!!!!"
Thanks, Aimee, for making such awesome party hats!!!!!
I totally see them as teenagers here, getting ready to beg for the car keys or cash for the movies. Or just plotting against us in general. I'll let Aimee tell you about fears of low-rider jeans and thongs and cracks. I am still cracking up. No pun intended.
Thank goodness for my two furry dustbusters! First thing Zane did with his cupcake was turn it over and smear the icing all over the tile!!! I don't think he actually ate any of it, but it sure was fun to get on his hands/hair/the diaper bag/the cabinets/anything he could touch!!!!
PS: Once again, wipes FAILED to do the big clean-up job I was hoping they would. . .you'd think I would learn!!!
So thanks for sharing the celebration, Aimee and Bailey!!! We had a blast!!!
