Vacation Bible School

Did someone say "school"?

I'm on somewhat of a hiatus this week as I have volunteered for Vacation Bible School. I know, what was I thinking. . .

Don't worry, no one was foolish enough to leave spreading the word of God to impressionable children to me or anything.
They've got qualified staff for that.
I'm in the nursery as an extra volunteer.
What does that mean?
It means I was supposed to work with the two-year-olds while Zane happily played with other children of his own age in a different room.
I had some kinda lofty expectations for the poor kid, considering we've only left him a handful of times in his life, and mostly with relatives.
So I could only handle hearing him scream in the adjoining room for a few minutes before I scooped him up and brought him in with me.
Suddenly, there was a great need for extra help in the one-year-old room and I heeded the call. Yay.
Crisis averted. I help out the other workers and he's getting used to the room where he stays during church nursery. All great. Yay.
Except yesterday I had a crisis of parenting identity (more about that later) and a mini panic attack over who knows what. But now I'm fine.
And, seriously, if you are planning to comment and tell me "You just have to let him cry it out" I am not interested in hearing that. Even though your intentions are good. Just not ready for that. So, thanks.
Now I'm ready for some extra caffeine. Eight one-year-olds will really take it out of you!

One of us still has to stay in nursery with Kaylee. And she's 3. Did you want to hear that, or...??? LOL

Dear sabrina. Wow, I'm intrigued about the crisis of parenting identity. I hope it passed quick - you seem like a great mum! Except for the temporary insanity when you volunteered to help in the nursery!

Hi Sabrina! Zane is SOOOOOO adorable! I just wanted to stop by and say hi. Zac says hi too. By the way, I did VBS at our church last year---not doing it this year---enough said.
