Rocks in my socks. ..

As part of my overly generous Mother's Day gift, my DH bought me some really awesome running shoes. (I've decided to run a half marathon this winter) I must have tried on ten pairs at our great local running store since my feet have survived a pregnancy since I last bought a pair. I settled on these because:

1) they were the best-fitting

2) they were the best-looking

I used to be hopelessly devoted to New Balance. I gotta tell, ya, folks, those NB people make some PUG UGLY shoes. I just couldn't do it any more. I don't care about cushioning. They were Ug-lay.

I'll tell ya, and so will the DH, that there's something to LOOKING good when you work out that contributes to FEELING good when you work out; thus, you WORK OUT MORE!

So while I may have more shoe than I need, at least I look good.

Unfortunately, no matter how great these shoes look:

1) they are not comfortable to walk in (they're like the wind when running but clompy otherwise)

2) the super-cool open channels that make you run fast, real fast don't jive with our post-run "treat" of park-playing.

These shoes pick up at least a cup-ful each of whatever material pads the ground at our various parks. So I slog home with a sole-full of recycled tires/pebbles/wood chips. Of course, these also end up in and around our house no matter what I try.

Oh, well, all for the sake of running, health, and keeping the kid happy.

And I guess I just have to run the entire time I'm wearing these shoes. Or stuff some "walking" shoes in the stroller and transition. But, ugh, I mean, that's why I don't just loooove triathlons--the transition. I takes for-evah to get your shoes on juuuust riiight to change too often.

Anyway. . .what are your favorite workout essentials?

I LUB these low-rise, not too shorty running shorts by InSport. Ooh, and now they have reflective doomahickies on them. Niice.

And if you want extra spring in your step, I totally endorse these crazy/sexy/cool running skirts. I think the company owner is in the Big D, so that's cool to shop locally. And yeah, my skirt toootally matches my running shoes. So sad they don't seem to have pink/chocolate any more in their marathon girl skirts.

Anyway. . .this was my attempt to post about something in my life other than the kiddo. There's not a whole lot. . .And I only ran a whopping eleven minutes today. No, not miles, minutes. It was a rough night, to say the least. At least I can only go up from here!!

Well, there you go making me feel all bad about myself for not working out. I have on my yoga pants today, but the most I've done is roll on the floor while tickling the baby. Um, that counts for something, right?!?!?!

The skirt is way cool, btw!
