One of my friends from home--Kat--sent me this video of Bert Brady in Dallas yesterday. He works with volunteers to greet the soldiers coming home from Iraq. I was absolutely in tears.
Sometimes it's easy to feel disconnected to the war (unless you turn on CNN World, and then it's 24/7) being over here because there aren't any Irish fighting and dying there so you just don't hear about it daily. There are so many men and women who are making a huge sacrifice--some who are my former students, even (gosh, I can't think about that too much because those are my babies and it gets me really choked up!).
