Anyway. . .things with the baba are totally fine. My appointment was super normal as usual. The kiddo's heart rate was slower than it usually is--136-139--but I'm sure we caught him or her napping for a change (usually KidZilla gets all bent out of shape when the Doppler tries to seek out the heart rate). I still have a slew of appointments left here between the midwife, my GP, and the glucose tolerance test (next Monday--I have to fast--NOOOOOOO!).
I am including a pic of my "super secret knitting mission" that I was on a month or so ago. This is a little baby blanket for my friend Stiggs' baby, Sprout, who is due to arrive about the same time as KidZilla. The cool thing about this blanket is that the yarn is all Irish and made locally. From the baby-soft synthetic/acrylic sheep that they have out here. HaHa. It was a lot of fun to knit, and it turned out nice and lacy like I wanted. Technically, I have a Part II of the super secret knitting mission, but progress in the knitting arena has slowed to a snail's pace. . .I wonder why?

In making preparations to return back home, I've learned that the realtor is going to relist our house and start showing it to potential clients. This is an absolute nightmare, as I was planning to let the house be as messy as it needed to be for me to pack up and get everything in order for the move and then clean after the movers came. Now I have to keep things spic and span for potential renters to fall in love with the place. Those of you who know me, know that I am not the world's-ahem-cleanest housekeeper. The bare minimum is no longer going to cut it. . .sigh.
Oh, and I decided to change the title of my blog. Mostly because it was an unwieldy mess. Secondly, because the idea of us being "un-Cork-ed" came to me last night while I was uncorking a bottle of wine. DON'T YOU JUDGE ME! A glass of wine every once in a while is NOT going to hurt my baby. Seriously. If it helps take my mind off the stress of moving again, then it's even beneficial. We've already been over how I have not been the super-pure-temple-body-mama I thought I was going to be. Don't give me any more grief than what I've already given myself. Oh, yeah, and I'm having a cup of COFFEE right now, and it is GREAT.
Right now I am trying to prevent WWIII from taking place through the fence between Tex and the neighbor's dog. They've had two homicidal run-ins already today and now they are begging to be let out. Fuggetaboutit. This is happening a mere hour after the boys were super-sweet with Chica#1's Littlest Chiquita baby girl. They were so good and gentle! I was so proud! Tex acts like Nana from Peter Pan with a baby but like The Terminator with the neighbor's dog. Go figure.
So that's my rant today. I get to go pay a speeding ticket that I got on the 1st of March. Apparently there are these speed-detector vans that are just automated and if you are going 1Kilometer above the limit, you get a ticket mailed to you. Sigh. Since I was going, well, 30K above the limit, I guess it's all justified.
Here's my deep thought for the day: Do you still call it the "mileage" on your car if it is measured on kilometres? Feedback? Please!

Dear sabrina. Wow! So much to talk about! Firstly, I noticed uncorked straight away - hilarious! Love it. Secondly, the blanket looks beawt, but won't stiggs see it on here? Thus not so secret...? Thirdly, not judging you about the wine. My sister in law is pregnant and exactly the same, and she's checked with the doctors/midwives/books etc, and they all say a glass every now and then is fine. Fourthly, you should fork out a few (I know, precious) euros to get someone to clean your house well and good now, as it will be easier for you to keep clean, rather than clean it fully and keep it clean. Then get them to do final clean when you move. And charge it all back to DH's company! Pretty rotten that they're going to be showing people through though. Meanies. Fifthly, just be glad that they don't fine you for every kilometre that you were going over the speed limit! hehehe. Sixthly (ugh, I'm losing count), in Australia, we do call it mileage even though we use kilometres. But all the oldies like my folks grew up with miles, hence mileage. Or they just say, "What's on the clock"....
LMM: Fab comment! Not to worry! I gave Stiggs the blanket while in Houston. Seriously considering the housekeeper. Thanks for the tip about the "mileage". I need to visit you today. . .see you in a few. ..
You drink your wine and mess up your house all you want. No one tells a pregnant woman what to do.
I recommend crying a lot and begging for a maid service.
Jenny, that's the best plan I've heard yet!!!
You changed your blog name without consulting us? That's very poor form.
Still a little long though. Why don't you just go with Un-Cork-ed?
LMM is right, you were lucky you weren't here, 30km over the limit is around $350 and loss of many points.
Us old guys still call it mileage (when I first started driving we actually used miles and gallons), but the correct (and more commonly used nowadays) term is fuel consumption and it's measured in Litres per 100km. Unless you're talking about how far the vehicle has traveled in which case it's "how many ks?" rather than "what's the mileage".
