Monday, Segunda Parte

So here's a little more of what we've been up to. . .
As several of you know, we have been sharing one vehicle (in Houston, for pete's sake--absotively NO public transportation, it's hot, and nothing is closer than 2 miles from our house!) since we returned on 3 May.
This has been fine, as I have been up to my eyeballs in stuff to do with the house. I'm still buried in stuff to do to get the house back in working order, but that has nothing to do with vehicles, so I digress. . .
But we finally got a second "car" on Friday. Here ya' go: I just realized my eyes are closed or at least very squinty in this pic, but it's my fave one we took with me and the Jeep, so there you go.
Here's my DH with the new adventure-mobile:

For those of you tsk-tsking about how impractical this vehicle is for a couple about to have a baby. . .

For those with the raised eyebrow wondering how we're going to fit a car seat into that. . .gasp. . .4X4. . .

For those of you finger-shaking and thinking we are off our rocker. . .I mean, just think of the fuel (in)efficiency. . .

You know what you can do!!!!!

It's something DH can drive to work and not hate every single day he gets into it. Something we can keep for a long time and he can tinker with. And, yes, you can actually fit a car seat into a Jeep. We have a neighbor who does it every day.

The Jeep is almost 10 years old and has a lot of personality. Character. Some dings. Call it what you will.

I had no idea how much I heart Jeeps until I sat in this one. And, man, let me tell you how I am hot stuff driving this thing. .. whoo-ee!! No, we are not heading off to any jamborees anytime soon, but we sure like driving it!!!

Oh, and for those of you who are saying to yourselves "but Jeeps are uncomfortable, the ride is awful, they're loud, etc.etc.etc.". Let me tell you that this puppy feels like it's got some sort of air ride--super comfortable (more so than my DH's old truck) and not as loud as you would expect. I mean, it's a Jeep, not a Mercedes. You want plush, buy luxury. You want cool, buy a Jeep.

And I LOVE IT!!!! Cute name for Jeep forthcoming.

Last note on this post:

Wednesday, my DH planned a super-special evening of LOST viewing activities, including pizza, a fun walk with the dogs, and a skit recapping this season's episodes starring my DH, Blanco, and Tex.

Since Blanco was standing in as both Kate and Sayid, here was his "wig". This was pretty hilarious. And the dogs seemed to enjoy it until Blanco was trapped in the "hatch" (an upside-down clothes basket). Then they sort of freaked out and forgot all of their lines. Amateurs.

And yes, that is the mess that will one day go into the baby's room behind them. We have weeks--plenty of time until this kiddo shows up!!!

I always fancied a jeep but they do have bad publicity. Anyway it's your choice so enjoy it I'm sure it will be great fun.

Love the pics! Blanco is such a fashion maven (spelling?).

I think you will really enjoy the Jeep. I can see you cruising to the beach with baby in tow. How fun!!!

You won't find me disparaging of you choice of vehicles. Apart from having one myself, they do make a good second car. And it's only a small one so the fuel consumption wont be bad at all.

I am a little concerned at the rag top though, unless he has secure parking where he works.

btw. cool ride you got there!

Sweet ride. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Daisy Duke drive a Jeep?

MTG: Oh, the places we'll go. ..
Karmyn: Enjoying it to the fullest!
ChrisB: I'm bound for trails unknown at this point in my life (Jeep optional)!
Stiggs: Blanco is so money he's scary. Looking forward to the beach!
WT: Rent-a-cops abound. Thanks for the thumbs up!
Beccy: Sure will!
LMM: This one actually has the fake a/c, too, but I'll enjoy the wind in my hair as well!
Mark: I like the way you're thinking! (I think. Perhaps not if you're referring to my redneckness). Hers was white, which was my color of preference, but the one we were looking at sold a few days before we bought this one! Give me a few months after baby, and I'll give Daisy a run for her money!!!

Okay, I hear ya on the Jeep! Forget what everyone else says...Jeeps are a lifestyle. I grew up with Wranglers and have now owned a Cherokee for 10 years...wouldn't be caught without it!

CC: I feel like we have just joined a fraternity--it's so much more than buying a car
Stephanie: I'm back in your hood, sistah. Yes to all the above. You laugh with that Prius all the way to the pump. . .I'll see you there!!! I'll hunt down yer e-mail this afternoon. .
