Water, baby!

So today I took Z to his first swim class across town at the city pool.
If you know me well, you know that I live ten houses away from the neighborhood pool and half a mile from the swanky new private indoor swim center. So, you're scratching your head as to why I drug him all the way over there. . .
Partly, it's because I am CHEAP and the posh new swim center is NOT.
Partly, it's because I feel city programs are great and under-used by our community.
Partly, it's because Z seems to get bored with the same pool over and over.
Finally, and perhaps, most importantly, it's because my first memory is of swim lessons.
Not that I anticipate Z to have any recollection of the 8, 25-minute swim "classes" we're taking this month. I just really want him to have every opportunity to enjoy the water. And swim lessons are very dear to me because I was a little fish at a young age.
At today's lesson we went "up and down" about three million times (seriously, my quads are screaming from all the squatting), Z resisted being held tummy-up in the water (too much like a diaper change, I guess), Z watched, very amused, as Mommy and two instructors made motorboat sounds for 15 minutes trying to get him to blow bubbles, then we went under water three times without drinking any.
Despite the class being totally in the middle of nap time, he did great. It will make sleeping very, um. . . interesting these next couple of days, but I guess it's worth it.

Here's my little fishy swimming with Daddy this Sunday at the neighborhood pool. Bah. My ISO is all jacked up from shooting in the shade at the baby pool, and I was just too eager to get pics to change it to make it right. Grainy and overexposed. Grr. Bah.

He'll sleep excellently. I love swim class. And, we take year round solely for the amazing naps.

I think it's a great shot. Not grainy at all!

Can't wait to hear more about the swim lessons!
